Description: The character knows how to inflict incredible damage when her opponent is at a disadvantage. Critical strike allows a the character to sneak up upon her target and perform a critical blow, possibly fatal. Critical strikes must be declared. A critical strike is possible only if she has the opportunity to attack while the target is unaware or otherwise incapable of knowingly or effectively defending themselves from attack. The effect of a critical strike is determined by the chart below. All effects are cumulative, thus a rank 6 critical strike stages damage up +15, causes maximum damage for the base damage and rolls damage a total of two extra times.
This abilities effects are cumulative with the the effects of attacks against helpless/bound defenders.
- Rank 1: Staging +5
- Rank 2: Max. damage
- Rank 3: Staging +5 (+10 total)
- Rank 4: Roll damage dice 1 extra time.
- Rank 5: Staging +5 (+15 total)
- Rank 6: Roll damage dice 1 extra time (2 total bonus rolls)
Note: The Game Keeper may require a successful hide or move silently check to successfully use this skill in many situations. While this HC can be used with ranged weapons, the target must be completely unaware of the attack, the attacker can have absolutely no distractions, and the attack will take at least 2 full rounds of preparation to gain the benefits of Critical Strike.
Note: Targets with the Danger Sense trait or HC reduce the effective rank of the attacker's Critical Strike HC rank by 2 levels to a minimum of 1 level of effect.
Ranged Weapons: It is only possible to perform a critical strike attack with ranged weapons if the target is within 10 yards, regardless of the range capabilities of the weapon being used. The target must be completely unaware of the attack, the attacker can have no distractions, and the attack will take at least 2 full rounds of preparation to gain the benefits of Critical Strike.
